Topic: What to buy?

Hey there,

I am aware of the threads concerning possible Firewire bugs across the Apple productline board.
Would someone please advise which options I have for my current setup?

I need a solution for the following setup:

- Newest iMac 21.5"
- Newest Macbook Pro 15"
-> Field recording where there will be no power socket available, and post production of the material on the iMac
-> Want to use the Macbook as source of 2-4 virtual instruments live on stage with Logic 9 as host program

Things that would be nice:

- Interface with bus powered power to be able to record with the Macbook when there is no wallwart available.
- At least 8 analogue in/out + optical in/out
- Preamp for at least 2 analogue inputs
- compatible with the iMac and the Macbook Pro

Obviously the options boil down to the FF400, FF800 or the FF UC.

Which interface would you recommend, and more importantly which one is working reliably on both computers?
I'd be very sad if I'd have to switch to a different brand, for I've been using RME equipment for ages and am totally satisfied with it!
Furthermore I'd like to keep supporting local (german) companies.

Thank you for your help,
