Topic: FF 800 Flash Tool update ERROR 20000000

Hello.  I have a brand new FF800 I'm trying to install.  But I have a solid red light (Host) on the front and I'm unable to update my Flash/Firmware without getting a "Failed with error 20000000" message.  My current Firmware is 0.00   I've tried 3 different firewire 800 and 400 cables, plugged into every firewire port I have.  I have your newest Drive update installed, 2.66.  And I still get the error message with trying to update the firmware.  The unit does come up in the Fireface Settings Box, but all status shows "No Lock".   I also tried to use my Mac Pro lap top instead, but I got the same Error message.   I feel I have trouble shooted this thing pretty well and don't know what else to try. HELP.     Do I need to return the unit to Guitar Center Pro?

I have a 2x Quad Core Mac Pro, OSX 10.6.3, 12 GB of RAM and use Logic Pro 9

Same here! "No driver found" when updating the Flash/Firmware!!!

I'm desperate!!  I need to work this weekend! Pls help!

Then there is no communication from the unit to the driver. The FUT will not work in this state (and anyway it's probably not necessary as a brand new unit should already have the latest firmware). Please first try a complete removal of all driver files per instructions linked below, repair disk permissions, then install the driver again. Make sure all other FW devices are disconnected from the computer (incl. the Apple Cinema Display FW connection, if used). Also, it would not be a bad idea to rest the SMC and PRAM on the Macs, links below.

If it still does not connect to either computer then it should be returned to the dealer, sorry.

Thanks for your help Jeff!

I trashed all the files but for some reason, after re-installing Fireface 2.66, I can't even find the FirefaceAudioDriver.kext in the extensions folder! It just won't install the sucker!!!

Any other suggestions?

No idea why or how, but that is definitely a problem! You did the "repair disk permissions" step, right?

Any idea as of how to go back to 10.6.2 - other than installing 10.6 and then upgrade to 10.6.2 ....?

Hi  i've got the same problem 
Macbookpro intel-core 2 Duo2.2  ,4G Ram  ,FF 800 v2.70  , OSX 10.5.8  , Logic pro 9.1.1   
Everything worked so well under logic pro 8 and ff 800 V 2.62a   that i can't help thinking it would stay like that : i' ve noise on play , noise while recording , a lot of noise when i change or not the frequency .
The flash don't succeed in updating : "Flash Tool update ERROR 20000000"
                                                                                          My chipset of firewire is TI 
                                                                                          I  trashed all the files and re installed 2.62a and update to 2.70 : doesn't work !

Was that the PPC (PowerPC) version or the x86 (Intel) version? If you accidentally installed the PPC version then you need to clean up again and get the correct Intel driver.

Maybe you have some trouble with the FW ports on your mac, try a SMC reset and PRAM reset.

Hello , thanks for your answer ; the problem I have is not as difficult as I thought at the beginning , i'm exactly in the same situation than "gamerx" who explained his trouble here :           
               FW series
Well the most important for me is saved because i can work till the moment i ll decide to send the fireface for an hardware reparation.
But i wonder if a new firmware would correct or not this type of problem   .
