Topic: Multiface vs. fireface 800

Hello. Ive been a long time use of RME and very happy with the products overall. Im looking to upgrade my pro-home studio. Aside from upgrading my monitors, im also looking at upgrading my D/A A/D. Currently Im running an original series multiface with PCI card (im using a 1.5 gHz G5 PPC.) I was looking at upgrading to the fireface 800, but what i'm not sure about is a.) are the converters BETTER in the 800? I mean, would it be an actual upgrade in sonic quality? and b.) do i need to be concerned about DSP and latency since im going from a card input to straight firewire? Im deciding between this unit and the Apogee Ensemble, though honestly based on what i've heard from samples, the 800 sounds like it has better conversion.

Any thoughts or insight would be most appreciated.

Nominally, the FF800 has better converters. How much of a difference that will make to you in terms of sound quality is something that your ears can tell you only... cool

On a good computer, latency is not a major issue.
