Topic: fireface 800 + Presonus Firestudio

Hi folks,
I was trying to run the fireface 800 along with the presonus firestudio,
the main problem is that the firestudio does not have any kind of clock port or stuff like that, considering
that I'm on Snow Leopard with Logic pro 9 I've created an aggregate device that merge the two devices into a virtual one.
All seemed ok in the first place, Logic recognized the aggregate device and the inputs.

But after a few recording tests I discovered a couple of problems:
1. the audio recorded from the presonus channels in not in sync with the rest of the tracks that comes from the ff800
2. all the tracks form the firestudio have a sort of craking in the audio.

anybody ever tried this kind of configuration?
or do you have any kind of suggestions?

thanks in advance.

K

Re: fireface 800 + Presonus Firestudio

You need to clock the Firestudio with a digital I/O (ADAT). ADAT cable from Fireface out (Master) to Firestudio in (Slave).

Re: fireface 800 + Presonus Firestudio

yeah, the mai problem is that the firestudio doesn't have any kind
of port like ADAT or World Clock.

it just has 2 fw400 ports and the spif i/o
if you want to give it a look this is the device page @ presonus website

thank you

Re: fireface 800 + Presonus Firestudio

I see. But it has a digital SPDIF I/O - which will also work.

Re: fireface 800 + Presonus Firestudio

cooool. thank you so much
I'll give it a try 2night.

the spdif works with a standard RCA cable, right?
do I also need to connect the two devices via fw400?

Re: fireface 800 + Presonus Firestudio

Probably yes, but a special 75 Ohm coaxial SPDIF cable is better.

do I also need to connect the two devices via fw400?

No. Not for clocking, but you need to connect both interfaces with FireWire to your computer.
