Topic: red validity bit on playback channels

Installed an HDSP 9652 the other day and have been messing around with digicheck, looks like a great little tool.

Anyway, now for my stupid question:
In the help file for the bit statistics + noise function, it states that the normal state of the validity bit is green (0), however, monitoring playback from applications that use asio output seem to always show the validity bit red and with a star, indicating that it is alternating.

Is this because asio can output at more then 24 bits so any past the 24th are misinterpreted, an error on the applications part, a genuine problem or something else? so far I've only tried foobar, renoise and reaper which is hardly exhaustive but they all give the same result.

Just wondering if I need to worry really..

Cheers

Re: red validity bit on playback channels

You are right. And the outgoing channel status can not be read anyway.
