Topic: 2xF800, 3.015 beta & Sonar 8.5.3 32-bit & W7 64-bit = problem

I've reported of problems with two units in previous threads, especially in the new driver thread. Yesterday I recorded a sample of stuttering sound after begins to stutter. Screen capture shows that there are totally silent moments of playback.

http://www.avaruusankat.com/etc/RME/FF800_Problem_with_2_units.JPG

Whole area is 2048 samples. Left channel is copied from correctly bounced version.
White area is 256 samples. ASIO buffer was 256. Coincidence or not?

There were some analog devices (SSL compressor and tape machine) in the Master Bus and thus the signal is a bit rounded.

I had to reboot system to get playback in order.

I also tried to restrict bandwidth of both units. System seemed to be more reliable. However, I need all i/o of both units and thus this is not permanent solution for me.

Try this hotfix for Windows 7' new Firewire driver: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981613

Alternatively try the "legacy" Firewire driver.

Thanks for tips, Timur.

I've installed hotfix already.
Legacy driver: one unit OK but it does not work with two units - second unit does not show up.

One unit is generally 99% reliable in my system. With two FF800 units problems always come sooner or later.
Is it relevant to search for a new 1394b card? Currently I use Sunix Firewire 400/800 2 x Beta, 2 x 6-pImage of Sunix Firewire card

Please wait for a driver update. Or install the older non 3 series one.

OK, I try to survive.
You could also write a new Firewire driver for W7. wink
