Topic: Fireface 400 - Sonar 8.53 Problem

Hello - 1st post - my system is WinXP-SP3 - Intel motherboard D925XCV with one firewire port in the back of the computer - 8 gig ram - NV-GeForce video card. Fireface 400 using firmware 1.70 with driver 2.9992. I am using ASIO with buffer 256. My DAW software is Cakewalk Sonar 8.53.
My problem is that when I start to play a .wav file within Sonar the front Host 2 yellow light flashes continually and then I can no longer select any analog outputs except the original 1/2 outs for audio. Do I need a dedicated PCI express card from RME for my computer or a general PCIexpress firewire card? Is the one firewire port on the motherboard good enough? Are there any special instructions to have the Fireface 400 work with Sonar 8.53? Thank you in advance for any guidance.

Re: Fireface 400 - Sonar 8.53 Problem

The yellow LED is MIDI in or out. The onboard FW port should work fine, generally.

Can you explain more about the problem with output selection?

Re: Fireface 400 - Sonar 8.53 Problem

Thanks for your response - the yellow or orange light just indicates MIDI info - thank you for clarification. My continuing problem is that once I open a project in Sonar and choose Fireface Analog output 1/2 the project plays without difficulty. The problem occurs when I try to change the output to 3/4 or 5/6 or 7/8 - my software won't allow the drop down menu to open to choose what output I want. It seems like the project is locked to output 1/2 - any suggestions.......thanks.

Re: Fireface 400 - Sonar 8.53 Problem

Solved problem - old projects saved in prior versions of Sonar with old audio interface designations have to be resaved in the new version of Sonar with the new I/O selections of the Fireface 400 and then all output audio pairs are shown in a drop down menu. This may help other Sonar 8.53 users using the Fireface 400 for the first time.
