Topic: Fireface UC - glitches

dear all,

I bought yesterday the Fireface UC. I use it for hi fi purposes connected to a mac mini and Focal CMS65 speakers.

The sonic result is astonishing. The only thing that annoies me are some glitches you can hear when you remotely control Itunes from Iphone or just move the mouse or any other simple operation the computer does on his own (screensaver, ect).

So far I have used for the same purpose an Echo Audiofire8 and never experienced such an issue.

Is there anything I should take care in the setup of mac mini that would help? I already disconnected wireless mouse, switched of screensaver, set power saving to none... glitches are still there every now and then.

Thank you for support!

ciao

Re: Fireface UC - glitches

Are you running balanced cables between the UC and the CMS65 speakers?  If not you should, the noise should go away with balanced cables.

yes, I am using balanced cables. Actually my problem is not a constant noise but some sporadic glitches when the mac starts doing some collateral operation.

Re: Fireface UC - glitches

Yesterday night, after having extensively surfed the web for a similar problem encountered by someone else, I found a guy who had "beeps" during recording. He solved using a shielded short USB cable with pure irons rings. By chance I had one connected to a Lacie USB HD. I connected to the UC and now it works flawlessly.
