Topic: Lost recording?

Made a 2 channel AB recording this morning of a concert with DigiCheck 5.23 and FireFace UC. Saved it, and shutted down the laptop.
At home copied the file (1.130.496.000 bytes) to my desktop PC and opened it in a wave editor.
Only 0.5 sec sound, nothing else.
Got the latest version of DigiCheck from the website (5.253).
Started Digicheck, loaded the file. Saved to a new name as a 2 channel file.
Still no data.

What's going on?
The data seems to be there, but unreachable. Error in the header?

Re: Lost recording?

Looking in the header of the file (hexadecimal) I found strange values for the file and datasize (indicating the 0.5 secs).
Made a calculation of what they should be (more then 1 hour) and used a hex editor to change them.
The file is in perfect order now.
No thanks to RME, because they mailed me the file would be unusable.

Re: Lost recording?

Sorry, no idea how this would happen...
Have you got screenshots or whatever of the old file in the editor?

Re: Lost recording?

Hi,

Already an idea why DigiCheck wrote the wrong file- and datasize in the header?
It gives me a bad feeling, knowing that I have to make a lot of concertrecording the coming weeks.

Re: Lost recording?

Sorry, no feedback yet. If you feel unsure, I'd suggest another recording software for the moment...
