Topic: Using Fireface 800 and Babyface simultaneously

Hi,

I already have a Fireface 800 but sometimes it doesn't feet to my needs :
-Sometimes I need, 24 digital inputs feeded by my external converter during big live recording sessions, and 24 digital outputs feeding this converter for analogue mixing sessions.
-Sometimes I need a little but great little interface when I just need to make single instrument tracking outside.

So I wonder if the Fireface 800 and the Babyface will work together to provide 24 ADAT inputs and outputs, or if it won't simply work, due to the difference of Totalmix generation, or any other reasons.

Re: Using Fireface 800 and Babyface simultaneously

RME FireWire and USB interfaces use a different driver. If you want to use both of them in the same software it needs Mac OS X (aggregate device). Please note that this combination also needs a clock sync (e.g. the optical output of the Fireface and the digital input of the Babyface).

best regards
Knut

Thanks for your reply.

So there's no way to make it work on a PC...

Re: Using Fireface 800 and Babyface simultaneously

You would need 2 x Firewire or 2 x PCI or PCIe interfaces to have them share the same driver and thus be visible to the same Windows DAW.
