Topic: Getting started with 9632 and t-bone sc 1100

I'm new to the whole audio stuff, so please excuse my ignorance.
I have a HDSP 9632 and a T-Bone SC 1100 mic.
Now I want to get started with simply just getting some input into a audio software but I couldn't get it working. So I was wondering if I need a pre-amp for this to work?
I know this may be the right forum but if I ask in a general audio forum people will just reply stuff like "check out the manual" (which is good but just too much to get in my head at once).

Yes, you'll need a preamp. The HDSP 9632 does not have one built-in.
