Topic: No Meters, No Activity In Cubase With RME HDSP 9652 Only

Hello,

I just got my DSP 9652 in yesterday and installed it last night.

The driver installation and firmware update went fine.

I fired up a session in Cubase 5.5.1 and Cubase acted extremely sluggish and when I hit play I got zero meter activity.  Neither individual tracks or the 2bus was displaying any metering.  This is usually a sign of driver problems.  Just 10 minutes before, Cubase was working fine with my Presonus Firestudio.

I fired up Presonus Studio One just to see if it was a problem with Cubase or not, but Studio One had similar problems.  If I pressed play in Studio One, it would just hang when using the HDSP 9652.  I switched to the stock soundcard (which I didn't even realize was still activated) and when I hit play, everything seemed to function flawlessly.  No hangs, all metering.

I fired up the standalone version of Amplitube and could never get any sound in/out of the thing.

The hang ups suggest that there is either some kind of driver or hardware issue.

I'm using Cubase 5.5.1 on Windows XP 32-bit.

Any suggestions?

Brandon

Used card with older PCB? Firmware and driver version?

Driver version 2.94(6)
firmware 108

Yes, it is a used card.  I'm not sure how to tell if it has the older PCB.  Can you direct me to a guide?

The PCB revision is printed on the card. Have you tested software like e.g. Reaper?

Re: No Meters, No Activity In Cubase With RME HDSP 9652 Only

It's PCB revision 1.6.

I obviously had to pull the card out of it's PCI slot to see the revision #.  When I put it back in, it worked just fine in both Reaper and Cubase.  So it appears that maybe it just wasn't seated properly.

Thanks for the help anyway!
