Topic: FFUC standalone: How to switch phantom power?

Hi,

recently I failed switching phantom power on a FireFace UC in standalone operation mode.

I didn't find anything useful in the manual.

Any hints?

Ulrich

How can I switch Phantom power on/off in standalone mode?

Re: FFUC standalone: How to switch phantom power?

I'm curious to know this too. How can you turn on phantom power using the rotary encoder on the front panel of the UC? Is phantom power only controllable using the computer-based settings utility?

Ooops... That's what I expected least.
Any chance to change this with a future firmware update? (PLEASE...????)

It's really a pity as the FFUC could be such a nice standalone mic preamp.

Re: FFUC standalone: How to switch phantom power?

You could just keep phantom power switched on before you go to standalone mode. wink

Thanks for not forgetting the smiley...

Re: FFUC standalone: How to switch phantom power?

I was wondering the same few years ago for FF400.

Since the question has been raised again I'd like to ask if there is a
way to integrate that or is it not possible because of design limitations?

That's what I was thinking, but then you run into the issue of possibly having to unplug mics or change things around. For some condensers, pulling the cable while phantom power is active can kill the mic. So, then you would have to plug the UC back into the computer to disengage phantom power.

Re: FFUC standalone: How to switch phantom power?

I just read in the manual how easy it is to flash a new firmware... So it would be really, really nice of RME to deliver standalone phantom with a firmware update!

Thanks,
