Topic: Toslink length

Most information I can find suggests 10m is the maximum length to use for Toslink, but I've seen 50m cables. I'm wanting to attach some FF400's to an ADI-648 over 20-30m. Does the kit have enough drive to overcome the losses in the fibre?

Thoughts/links appreciated.

Plain 50 meter TOSLINK cables are too long for the ADAT protocol. You are shure it?s not a MADI cable?

I'm pretty sure, the spelling doesn't look like it says MADI big_smile

Google throws up reasonable results for 50m toslink and there's an interesting explanation here:
