Topic: Multitrack recording possible with RME-9632?

Hi,

I am the owner of an RME-9632 which I use with a Roland digital mixer VM-3100pro connected via optical cables.
I would like to achive recording at least 2 or 3 instruments simutenously in seperate tracks in Cubase.
I believe I can't do it with the equipment I have.
Is there an add-on of RME-9632 that could help me record this way or should I look into buying a new audio interface?

Re: Multitrack recording possible with RME-9632?

You need the optional DIF-AT Interface Box for the mixer, which adds 8 channels of ADAT/Tascam I/O.

Re: Multitrack recording possible with RME-9632?

Thanks for the quick reply Daniel.
However I hear that it's very difficult to find one of those these days.
So, what would be an alternative?

Is there for example an audio interface that could do the job (multitrack recording) on each own, without using of the mixer?

Best regards

You can add these expansion boards to the 9632: http://www.rme-audio.de/en_products_hds … s.php#AIAO
Or use any external ADDA converter with ADAT interface.

Re: Multitrack recording possible with RME-9632?

So the AI4S-192 AIO and AO4S-192 AIO expansions can cover the multitrack recording. However, I see they don't have a preamp channel for microphone... Maybe I could use one of those adapters?

One last question...:-)
If I didn't have any equipment, which would you recommend to me if I needed:
1. multitrack recording (not less than 3 channles),
2. 2 midi I/O
3. and a couple of preamp channels for microphones?

Thanks a lot for your help!

The Fireface 400 or Fireface UC are perfectly suited for your needs.

Thanks for your help Jeff.

Re: Multitrack recording possible with RME-9632?

Or use any ADAT AD+Mic Pre box as Daniel mentioned above wink  Anything from a D8, ADA800, all the way to higher end stuff like the Audient 008 will fot the bill IIRC.

The HDSP9632 has MIDI built in, no?

MADIface-XT+ARC / 3x HDSP MADI / ADI648
2x SSL Alphalink MADI AX
2x Multiface / 2x Digiface /2x ADI8

Thanks Randyman.
Yes, the RME-9632 has 1 midi I/O.
