Topic: Problem: A white display on the fireface UFX

Hello,

I just got my new UFX and put it on. The display worked fine. Then when I installed the drivers and (unnecissarily) updated the driver again, the screen on the UFX changed to white and now it doesn't respond at all. It just stays white. Does anybody know what this could mean and how it can be changed?

Hi. I have the same problem. After a few hours on, after installing all  new drivers, firmware etc., I turned the unit off. Later I turned it on and than the display went white. No matter what I did  it could not return to normal state. So I sent it back to the shop and now they sending me a new  one. If there are several units with the same problem ,than it is probably a bad component. For more info you may ask the RME support.

Merijn, did you just update the drivers or also performed a flash update?

Both: you flashed under Mac or Windows? And: did you try the unit without FW/USB cable connected? In that mode it should at least show the RME start screen.

I did. It is the same just white screen. No logo (start screen) shown.

this has got to be a common issue. my UFX unit is going back to my dealer for replacement because my screen is toast. Yes, I tried booting it up with USB disconnected to see if that was the problem and the screen is still nothing but colored horozontal lines on a white background. Sigh..... 1st Generation beta blues I guess.

The problem is solved! It was an update problem. I updated drivers and flash from de cd that I got with the system. Apperently they were old. When I downloaden the updates from the RME website it worked just fine! So, anyone with this white screen problem, try this!

I just was about to post this information. When the screen stays white it means that the internal DSP is not working. You can still perform flash updates.

Everything else, like the mentioned color lines within a white screen would be an internal hardware problem that needs service.

Hi there,

Just got mine today and same thing.  First it was the color lines within a white screen, then just the blank screen.  Did the updates, tried it with nothing plugged in (but the AC) and still blank screen.  All the other leds and Totalmix seemed to work fine.  Returned it...for exchange...

I'm having the same problem with mine. Worked fine for a few days after updating but now when I turned I got the white screen issue. Very frustrating. Everything else seems to work fine.

Well for some strange reason it is working again now. I disconnected the USB cable and everything works fine now, even with the cable connected.
