Topic: Does Firefae800 work with 1394 input on laptop

Hi there

My old laptop gave jup so i decided to buy a new one. i have got a fireface 800.
i checked the new laptops , but i had to see that no new laptops with expresscard  slots, pcmcia slots.
i could find laptops with firewire 1394 inputs. does it match with the FF800? i mean if i buy a cable which has male 1394 and on the other end is a firewire 800 or 400.

Check the chipset of the firewire on the laptop.  (Control Panel > System > Device Manager > IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers)  If the devices listed say something like "TI 1394 Controller" then you are good to go as you outlined with the proper cable.  If it says anything OTHER THAN "TI", then you may or may not have good success.
