Topic: HDSP 9632 Total Mix and Software Playback Tracks.

Hi to all.

I would like to ask something about Total Mix's Software Playback Tracks.

Lets suppose that i have audio coming from 2 different software applications.
For example lets say that i have audio coming from a Flash Video of You tube through my Internet Explorer.
At the same time lets suppose that the Windows Media Player plays an mp3 track.

Will those two different signals appear in 2 different Software Playback Tracks (mid row of Total Mix) or the sum of both will appear to 1 Software Playback Track?

Now lets suppose that i have completed a project in Cubase which is composed of 5 audio tracks. (Track 1 Drums, Track 2 Bass, Track 3 Guitar, Track 4 Keyboards and Track 5 Vocals.)

If i play this Cubase Project (running the sequencer) and open Total Mix at the same time what am I going to see in the Middle Software Playback Row?

Will i see 5 Software Playback Channels (one for each Track of Cubase) or just one monitoring the Audio Sum of those 5 Cubase Tracks?

Thanks in advance

Re: HDSP 9632 Total Mix and Software Playback Tracks.

In the first scenario you mention, these general multimedia sources are summed together by the OS audio mixer, then passed to one stereo pair in the RME playback.

In the second, it depends on how you set up these tracks in Cubase, it can be either way. You can send each track to a discrete output, or send all tracks to the Main out in Cubase, where they will be summed to one stereo pair.

...but you can use a different software for playing mp3's, eg. foobar or so, there you can configure a certain playback channel and you end up as expected.
IE always will use the OS audio setup...as WMP will do.
