Topic: FF400 vs USB midi in

I am assuming the FF400 midi interface is more reliable than a USB in midi interface on a PC laptop.

Can anyone confrim this please?  Currently I have a keyboard and a footcontroller using the 2 midi ins on the FF400 and a couple of other controllers via USB.

Thanks
C

I think you'll find either works just fine!   But you've got both working.  What is YOUR experience?

Re: FF400 vs USB midi in

Yes I have both working but sometimes (using Ableton Live BTW and Win XP)  I get a strange wakeup glitch when I input midi data after a long break......anyway, I just assumed that a dedicated midi in on a device like a FF400 somehow HAD to be more reliable than a USB in on a PC, seeing as USB ports often get shared between different devices, USB drives etc - this is why, in my setup, I have a keyboard (ie an instrument) on one of the FF400 ins and other midi controllers on USB, because the most important input (as a muso) is the keyboard.  Does that make sense?
