Topic: poor performance Win 7 Babyface ... anyone help

Anyone having experiences with Babyface and Win 7?

My audio is skipping every 10 seconds or so, glitching and I am having trouble getting decent playback. also, in ableton live the CPU usage is spiking like hell periodically......

thanks,MR

Please post your system specs and Babyface latency settings so people can understand your operating conditions.  Is the Babyface plugged into a hub or directly into the computer?

You may want to run DPC latency checker to see if you have anything in your system that is causing intermittent spikes.  It's usually a wireless card or something running in the background.

Thnk you very much for your help/ I am running Win7 64, using ableton Live, 4 gigs RAM, 256 samples buffer. The card is operating very well except for the occasional audio stutter or glitch, Can you recommend a DPC checker? Thanks again

This one has helped me diagnose periodic audio glitches before.

Basically just download the program, run it, and watch the meters.  Try to unplug or disable devices (wifi, blutooth ...) one at a time to see if you can get rid of the spiking.  I turned off the wireless card on my laptop and my spikes went away.

What processor?  Laptop or desktop?  256 samples isn't too low provided you have a quick processor.

In Control Panel, set power scheme to High Performance/Always On.

Thanks. My specs are

Win7, i7 Quadcore 3.3GHz, Intel, 12GB, 256GB SSD.....

in other words, it's a beast. I just need to tweak the system. Ill try DPC and get back to you

Well I had the same problems with my rme 400 using windows 7 64bits. I didn't have spikes but the asio meter in cubase was moving like crazy in small steps. Tried all sorts of thing to get it stable but with no luck. I guess its normal to have around 100-200us with dcp checker in windows 7. Reinstalled windows xp and my dpc latency is now 4-5us max smile
