Topic: FF400 - Don't get any sound in my DAW; TotalMix shows correct input

Hi there

I am running my fireface 400 on windows XP SP3. Latest driver from december 2010 is installed.
I have connected a neumann microphone to the mic input #1 and a DSI synth to analog input 3+4.
If I talk something into the mic or play the synth, I see the correct metering for the "INPUTS" in the totalmix software.

However, in Cubase 5 and Ableton Live 8.2.1 I do not get any sound. I tried to load different presets in the TotalMix - without success.
In Ableton live I activated all INPUTs of the FF400 but none of them shows any green metering when I play the synth or speak something into the mic.

In Cubase 5 - if I hit "F4" to configure the busses I see all Firface inputs but the column "device ports" is empty. I cannot choose any FF400 input.

Did I miss something?

Did it work before? Is Loopback activated in TotalMix?

Its the first time I connect the FF400 to my PC.
Where do I check if loopback is activated?

If I connect the FF400 to my Macbook Pro, the INs work fine in Ableton Live.

Check latest firmware. Then use DIGICheck to verify that ASIO Input works. In Cubase you might have to hit the reset button so that all available ins and outs are correctly shown, then check F4 (Connections) again.

DIGICheck is greyed out and not showing any level with ASIO? Is the FF listed in the device manager with an exclamation mark? Maybe you should try to reinstall the drivers as mentioned in the manual. Can you also show a screenshot of the FF Settings dialog?

DIGICheck is greyed out and does not show any metering...
I re-installed the driver and rebootet the system. Still the same issue.

Below you will see the ff400 settings.

Re: FF400 - Don't get any sound in my DAW; TotalMix shows correct input

I installed the FF400 on a new Windows 7 64 Bit maschine and everything works fine now...

Of course. You just forgot to tell us how many other audio and MIDI interfaces you have installed on your XP system - which has a limit, can not handle them all and then fails...

Thanks a lot for this hint, Matthias.
I did not even know that XP has a limit.

Happy I switched to Windows 7 - 64 Bit.
