Topic: HDSP9652 adat1 no lock [solved]

Hi. I have HDSP9652, and three ada8000 connected to it. Computer is i7 with Win7 64bit. Firmware is revision 108. After noticing problem I updated drivers from 340 to latest 404, problem still remains after update.

Recently I noticed that adat1 port (first 8 channels) is receiving no signal from converter. I switched optical cables, and no matter which external converter of the three I connect to adat1 port, there is no signal and no sync on adat1.

Since all three converters work on other two ports, I conclude that converters and optical cables are fine.

Any idea what could be the problem? Could it be that adat1 port is somehow locked on spdif? What do you recommend as solution? Thnx.

Turn off SPDIF in the Settings dialog. Also you can check by a simple out to in cabling whether a port is broken or not.

MC, SPDIF is turned off in settings, of course. Tried turning it on/of several times, restarting several times.... Direct connection out->in is not working, no signal on input. This means that port is broken? Is such failure serviceable? What do you recommend? Thnx.

Yes, that means input broken if connecting the same output to a different input works with ADAT and fails with SPDIF. Of course that is serviceable. Simply contact your local distributor.

OK, this will be funny. Problem solved. There is a checkmark in settings, labeled AEB. I guess it is for some external card or something. I had it turned on. It disconnects adat1, putting it on 'no lock'. Disabling it all works again.

I found this by chance, after replacing hdsp with my spare card. Problem was the same on spare card, so I thought no way that two of them have the same failure suddenly. By chance I clicked that AEB checkmark, and it was fine. Took out spare card and insert the first one, and all was fine.

What is this mysterious AEB checkmark? Wouldn't it be helpful that some warning was labeled near checkmark? I mean, how is one supposed to know that it does this to your card?

Thnx for your help.

By taking a quick look into the manual...
