Topic: Can't update to the New TotalMix FX - please help!

Hi there, I'm trying to get the new TotalmixFX running on my Macbook Pro with my Multiface 1 and HDSP Expresscard34.

My current system:
Macbookpro OSX 10.6.8
Multiface 1
HDSP Driver 1.60c

I have tried installing the OSX 4.01 driver many times but can't get the new TotalmixFX working. I have also tried updating my firmware (the newest I can see on the download page is 2.27) but this seems to have no effect. I cannot get my HDSP/Multiface driver to update beyond 1.60c

The TotalmixFX application is there in my Applications folder, but my system still loads the old Totalmix on boot-up. I can manually launch TotalmixFX, but can't configure it with the Multiface (nothing comes up in the configure device window).

I'm now quite confused by the necessary combination of firmware/driver/anything else I might need to get the new TotalmixFX running on my system.

Can someone please tell me exactly which versions of each I need, and what order they need to be installed? I have searched all through the downloads pages but can't find the right combination needed to give me TotalmixFX. Many thanks in advance!

1.60c is a PPC driver, I don't see how that can work with 10.6.8 or a MacBook Pro. You might have 1.73, the Intel version of that. Which also makes no real sense - why would anyone use such an outdated driver from 2008? Flash Update 227 includes firmware version 20 for the ExpressCard, but will not work with that old driver.

It might be necessary to remove all driver files and preferences of your current driver for the update to work correctly. An update from such a dinosaur to the latest version is not expected or supported automatically.

Well... it's been working for all these years, please see the pic below:

Why would you think I have 1.73? I can only tell you what the picture above is telling me.

Because if my system is stable - which it is now, and has been for years - I don't alter it: if it ain't broken, don't fix it. Admittedly, my entire Mac system has moved along with me thru many Macs and many Migration Assistants. As I rely on my audio system for my living, and the RME system has continued to work perfectly with each migration, I have just gone along with that... my bad, I suppose :-(

Thank you! I have just made a Time Machine backup of my Mac, and am ready to delete "all driver files and preferences".
Can you please advise where to find these files - I don't want to miss anything. Thanks
