Topic: Host error problem

I have a Multiface and an RPM, using a cardbus interface for my laptop, working with the latest drivers (firmware v 55 for the cardbus and driver 404) and it works perfect.

With my multiface (v1) which I bought 2nd hand I got a PCI interface for the desktop. I installed this in my desktop running W7 32/64 bit and it showed up nicely. However, it did not recognise the Multiface nor the RPM. I flashed the hardware succesfully to v17, and it shows up fine still. Windows driver 404 is there, but it still will not recognise the Multiface it came with, nor the RPM.

When I connect any of the devices to the PCI card the host error light turns on and will not go off anymore (not blinking). When I swap the cable to my cardbus interface it blinks a few times, turns off and the soundcard is working like a charm.

Help?

Re: Host error problem

Your 2nd hand PCI card seems broken. Most probably the transceiver for the signal over the FW cable is dead.

Re: Host error problem

So what would be the best path forward?

Is this something that could be repaired? A new one is simply not in my budget right now..

Please contact the retailer or local distrubutor for service options.

Re: Host error problem

I have contacted the closest RME retailer (Keymusic in Rotterdam).

They indicated they do not do repairs on RME cards, but would send it to Amptec in Belgium, their supplier, with a request to forward to RME for repair.
They would add some cost for shipping, and a top-up amount, as according their Dutch Law, they would have to give a one year warrantee on a repaired product.

Re: Host error problem

The problem has now become BIG. I was connecting my RPM via the cardbus and only get white noise/crackling on all channels. If I run Traktor throug hit, you can hear in the background the sound at half the speed as I can follow on screen, allthough the card and Traktor are both running on 44.1 kHz. Connect the Multiface in the same way, restart the laptop, no problem whatsoever. Switch to RPM, restart the laptop, complete mess still.

My RPM is my DJ card, I was only trying to add the Multiface to my DAW computer, and now its like I am screwed all over.

Please give some advise on what to do?
