Topic: latency and resources: HDSPe vs HDSPe MadiFX

Hi-
I'm currently using the HDSPe interface into an RME ADI 6432.  It has been an extremely reliable interface for several years, but I just upgraded to a new computer and I want to get the best use of resources and lowest latency.  I'm using Nuendo and want to use a lot of VSTi and VST plug-ins.  Where do I see the greatest system load and latency?  is it in the HDSPe, the ADI 6432, my lynx and Apogee AD/DA's?  Using 32 channels at 44/88K, will I get a noticeable reduction in latency and resources if I remove my HDSPe and install an HDSP3 MADI fx card?
Thanks!

Not sure, I did the same, Cubase can run at 128, but Wavelab still needs 256
Though without daw mixing in totalfix FX i can go as low as 32....
Seems application dependent

You won't get any direct reduction at all. None of the RME devices are in any way involved in rendering plugins etc.

Thanks!
I know they don't have anything to do with plugins, but if the HDSPe MADI FX uses less resources, it stands to reason that more resources would be available for plugins.  And if (as advertised) the MADI FX is more efficient than the older HDSPe card I would think my latency numbers would be better using it over the older card.  Also just wondering where the most latency lies- with the PCIe card, the 6432, or the AD/DA?

Or, as Raphie implies- is it the software that causes the most latency???
