Topic: Latest Totalmix FX PC version (1.03) for MADI PCI card question

Great job on the new driver, same look and feel than the MADI FX card and new features!

However I 'd like to disable the Control room features or more precisely to assign  main out to none as I would do it for main out B or phones outputs. On the MADI FX card I can assign the main out to the aes output (that I don't use) so no issue,  but the MADI PCI 'only' offers MADI outs so I am stuck if I want mono control on ALL channels.

Thanks,
Thomas

Re: Latest Totalmix FX PC version (1.03) for MADI PCI card question

I ran into the same situation, where I feel a change is needed.

From what I understand about Total Mix FX, the only way to completely disable the Controlroom functions would be to not assign anything to the Controlroom outputs. However, this is not possible with Main out. So currently there is always at least one hardware resource connected to the control room. Here in our recording environment (broadcast, symphonic) we would definitely prefer to have all hardware ouput resources at our free disposal as we have been used to it while using the previous driver generation.

I hope this feature request can make it into a driver update.

Ulrich

We will add 'None' for Main in the Assign dialog in one of the next updates.

Actually you can enable this function right now by hacking the workspace and snapshot file. If you open a snapshot file with an editor find

<val e="MainChannel" v="0.00,"/>

which equals channels 1/2 (the value might be higher depending on which channel you assigned for Main Out), and change it to

<val e="MainChannel" v="-1.00,"/>

This equals 'None' and puts the channels into the left area. They can then be set to mono as well.

In a workspace file this line is found in the section General and includes 8 entries, one for each snapshot:

<val e="MainChannel" v="-1.00,0.00,0.00,0.00,-1.00,0.00,0.00,0.00,0.00,"/>

Change the desired one, or even all, to -1.00, and load the file into TM FX. This special Assign state will not be overwritten unless you intentionally assign any channel to Main Out.

Happy hacking!

Thanks Mathias! Great Hack.

Re: Latest Totalmix FX PC version (1.03) for MADI PCI card question

As far as I can see current driver version 4.06 doesn't include any improvement regarding the desired option "Assign: None" for control room master.

May we still hope for seeing this realized in a forthcoming driver version, and not only as a hack?

Ulrich

TotalMix FX version 1.11 includes this function for all units without DSP plus the HDSPe MADI FX. The others need a firmware update.

Ok, I understand this is very fresh and hasn't made it on the regular download page yet. Thanks for caring!
