Topic: Total Mix (total newbie) question..

Hi Guys, I just ordered the UFX. Excited about having the ADA convertors/preamps etc.
I'm trying to wrap my head around what Total Mix FX does. I'm just going to be recording at home so don't need monitor set-ups and all. My question is a simple one:

1.Does the recorded signal go- into UFX
Then IN to Total Mix (where I can eq/level etc)
Then OUT to my Protools DAW where I would edit and bounce down these leveled tracks?

2.Or does it go through UFX straight to DAW then OUT to Total mix?
If this one is correct why would I need this if I am bouncing the final edit with my DAW?

Im taking the manual on vacation with me hoping to get a handle on the whole thing but this little question was bugging me.

Thanks all,  Fred

Re: Total Mix (total newbie) question..

I think we need a "beginners" section in this forum. Maybe we could call it "The Basics". I would be browsing there at the moment.
Just a thought.

Re: Total Mix (total newbie) question..

Gentle suggestion, what about starting to read the handbook 1st and then maybe use the search function of the forum ?

Usually a duplication of content and information does not necessarily lead to better education ...

Chapter 25 of the latest Handbook version explains to you the routing, 25.1 Routing overview is a nice primer ..

And in the pinned forum articles you will find a reference to a youtube video about totalmix which explains all nicely in detail in a more "visual way".
