Topic: Possible to use multiface2 without HDSPe card, with just firewire?

I haven't tried it out, wanted to ask around if it's possible to use the multiface2 without the HDSPe exrpress card?
wondering if i can just connect it via firewire. would that work without any problems or does it need the HDSPe express card inbetween? i have a 2014 macbookpro so no HDSPe card slot anymore in this one.

Not possible, and could actually damage the unit if you try...
A Thunderbolt-Expresscard adapter will work.
