RME User Forum → HDSP(e) series → HDSP 9632 plays faster than normal - including movies!
Hi, this must have been discussed somewhere but i couldn't find it or i didn't search long enough...
The short story is that after a fresh Win 7 32bits instal along with win_405 drivers my card plays everything faster than normal no matter my choice of player - e.g. Foobar, J River etc.
Any advice would be apreciated.

I have plugged the card into my HTPC and i have the same issue - plays everything faster than normal.
Tried a movie with MPC-HC with Default Device as RME HDSP 9632 instead of AMD HDMI Output and the movie plays faster as well; when going back to HDMI Output everything goes back to normal.
Whoever has been using the card for movies did they encounter similar issues at some point?
Any ideas please? It could be a faulty card? Or what am I doing wrong here?

No single word about your clocking - is the card set to Master/Internal? Then the internal clock might be defective, which will require repair.

Not sure if defective, your clock freq is greyed out, this means it gets external clock
Or an app has dictated a different clock than 44.1
You probably have some Mme or asio app makng the card think it's working on 48
Bogus SRC Or hifi streaming apps resampling often cause this.
Do a new virgin win install and try again
There are a lot of shitty virtual device overlay crappy apps like jriver foobar etc which seriously can mess up your audio config.
None of this is correct. Greyed out means he is currently having playback/record active with that EXACT sample rate. A different sample rate would be visible as red color text. And Foobar and JRiver are acknowledged references that don't kill your system. Recommending a new Windows install is completely over the top.
Ok, I've had occassions where these programs together with codecpacks and SRC plugins seriously messed up systems. Regarding the greyed out, my MadiFX is externally clocked via wordclock
And when it's greyed out on 44.1 and I have an 48khz file, it plays to slow
Sometimes it just doesn't follow the external clock in ASIO applications like wavelab and i have to switch to internal and back to WC to get rid of the "greyed out" and it then locks again to the correct clock. Or does the mafifx need to be master in order to always automatically switch to the samplerate of the project loaded?
Word clock has priority and does not allow to use a different sample rate. Changing the word clock frequency while ASIO is active is a different issue and will cause the red colored text.
