I see this topic gets some attention around here.
I've searched around, and it can get confusing for a novice......re:

Word Clock (audio), and Genlock (video)

I have the WCM (word clock module (rme)), and the 9632 card.

I'm considering getting a semi-pro video break-out box for my (win7) desktop.
Matrox MX02 http://www.matrox.com/video/en/products … max/specs/ or other unit. where there are software settings for video Genlock.
(I won't be using the SDI  format, for now. It will likely be just a Nikon DSLR video, over HDMI)

The basic novice questions.......

1) Do both these "clocks" sync together somehow ?
2) If so, do I chose one as "master", or "internal", or "external" ?
3) If I live-record audio through the RME, and video through the outboard box....will a sync issue arrive, over a matter of time ?
4) .....or, what is the preferred set-up for non-broadcast media projects ?

I am trying to keep this simple, for others in my situation.
