Is there a way to make the application focus automatically return to the DAW after a TotalMix operation such as pressing talkback?

How are you controlling talkback? Mouse clicking in Totalmix, a midi controller, or through key commands?

Not being sure what kind of touchscreen setup you are using, I think the easiest way for you to do this is to use the hotkey setup features in Totalmix fx to create hotkeys for the features you want to use the most. That way Windows won't need to change the application focus to Totalmix fx at all. It will just do what you need in the background.
