Topic: RayDAT and Audient ASP 880

Hi Folks,

I have a RayDAT card as the heart of my DAW system, the current external ADDA hardware is:

1x Aurora 16 (with L-Slot ADAT I/O)  1 - 16
1x Yamaha 824 (ADAT I/O)  17 - 24
1x old faithful RME 8IO96K (ADAT I/O)  25-32

I sold my old desk so now I'm out of mic pres!...

So I'd like to add 2x Audient ASP 880 mic preamp racks and connect them in via their builtin ADAT output.

(I'm using nearly all of my Analogue hardware outputs for multiple monitor configs and cue/headphone sends etc.)

The question being:

Can I disconnect an ADAT output from say the Aurora and connect that to an ASP 880 output without it upsetting the rest of my kit?

I want to keep the RayDAT as the Master clock, so the only way would be to clock the Audient via W.C. from the RayDAT.

How would that effect the whole hardware setup?

Would the RayDAT lose it's SyncCheck/ICC functionality (as I would be cutting some ADAT closed 'loops' from the system?)

Would this mean I'd have to clock all remaining external ADDA hardware from W.C. ?

Any help and advice as to the best/easiest way to integrate the ASP 880's (digitally) into my DAW setup would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Adam
