Topic: Burst of static/white noise when starting and quitting Steam games

Hi,

I have an RME HDSPe AIO. Up until recently I was using Windows 8.1 Pro and had no issues. However, I have just upgraded to Windows 10 Pro (clean install) and I'm having issues with certain Steam games. I have the latest drivers installed (4.10).

When I launch certain games, I get a short, loud burst of static/white noise, then the game launches and everything works perfectly, but when I quit the game, sometimes I also get the same short burst of static/white noise. It's quite annoying!

This only happens with certain titles. A couple of examples are Hitman Absolution Tomb Raider. Here's a video of me launching Tomb Raider: -

The audio is pretty poor in that video as I used my phone to record it, but you can clearly hear the loud static pop at around 6-7 seconds into the video. Once the game has launched, the audio is absolutely fine.

This didn't happen in Windows 8.1. I believe all of my settings for the sound card are the same as they were in Windows 8.1 too.

Any idea what might be causing this? I'd love to get it fixed, as my computer is otherwise running great on Windows 10. Thanks in advance!

Re: Burst of static/white noise when starting and quitting Steam games

I've been trying to find a solution to this, but I've not found anything that works yet. I have found a bunch of other people with similar issues who are using a range of different hardware though, for example: -

So, this issue is clearly not just affecting users of RME products, but do you guys think this is driver-related, or Windows 10-related? Any idea what the cause could be?

Yes, I have been having this issue with my HDSP madi card and Lynx Aurora.  Incredibly annoying.
