Topic: MADIface XT controll data

Hi,

Long time user first time poster!

I have previously used a Madiface and Madibridge to record live shows with. The setup was stagebox --> Madibridge --> Madiface and console with the advantage of the Madibridge letting all control data from console to stagebox pass thru with no issues at all.

I'm trying to do that with a Madiface XT but my console can't find my stagebox when I use the Madiface XT. Is it even possible for the Madiface XT to pass control data?

Is it possible for you to implement a 'Madibridge mode' to the Madiface XT? I would love to have a real quick way to route and convert full madistreams with out setting up mixes in the TotalMix or in the matrix.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Re: MADIface XT controll data

A 'console' often uses channels 57 to 64 to send / receive control data. If so it should be enough to pass-through (input to out monitoring) these channels at 0 dB gain via TotalMix FX.

There will be no fully transparent mode like existing in the MADI Bridge because it is not possible technically for a device like the MADIface XT.

Re: MADIface XT controll data

Ok, is the control data embedded in channels 57-64 even when there is audio present in those channels? (I'm using 64ch MADI - Soundcraft Vi)

Even if the Madiface XT isn't doing the same thing on a technical level as the Madi bridge it still would be nice to have a possibility to have a simpler patch setup in both the computer and in the actual device that is similar to the Madi bridge routing buttons, a kind of a one button to route full madistreams feature. Just for easy of use in stressful situations. Just a thought.

Thanks

Re: MADIface XT controll data

With 64 channels audio different techniques are used, like embedding the control data as serial protocol via the AES status bits. In that case it is not possible to use, receive or send such information with the MADIface XT.

You could try with a passive splitter, something like this for fibre: http://www.fiberstore.com/1x2-fbt-multi … 28849.html or this for coax: http://www.len.co.uk/products-catalogue … -splitter/
This would enable you to make a 1:2 split for both the console and the Madiface.

Ok, will the Madi Router pass 64ch with control data?

Thanks I'll look into that.
