Topic: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

Connected a Octamic XTC to UFX and have a BOB 32 connected to the Octamic XTC.  I have set the AES out on the Octamic XTC to source ADAT in from the UFX and have tried both ADAT 1/2 and ADAT 3/4 for the main out and not getting any signal out of the BOB 32. Any help would be appreditated.

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

As an update. Signal via ADAT  is getting to the Octamic XTC from the UFX because I have tested mic signals from UFX going to headphone outs of the Octamic.  Problem has to either be AES out of Octamic XTC or with BOB 32. Has anyone been able to get this to work? I'm wondering if this is a defective unit or there is a systemic problem with the XTC.

The Bob-32 suppports two D-sub pinouts. Looks like you have to change to the other one.

What kind of signal do you expect to get out of the BOB, and what is it connected to? There is no DA conversion here.

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

I have tried both sides of the BOB 32 with 2 different cables. It is connected to a Lavry DA 10. I know signal is getting to the XTC from the UFX but isn't getting to DA10 from XTC.

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

I also connected Lavry DA10 to UFX AES out and it works fine. I got the XTC and BOB 32 to specifically give me more AES.  Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

Your D-sub cable has the wrong pinout. The XTC requires Tascam pinout. The Bob is not a converter, using a Tascam cable the internal connector has to be set to Tascam as well. A Yamaha D-sub cable will not work even if internally set to Yamaha pinout.

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

I have 2 mogami gold dsub 25 tascam pinout cables.

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

I have also opened the BOB 32 to make sure it is connected correctly.

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

Does the Lavry recognize the AES signal? In that case we talk about an audio routing setup error within the XTC - most probably.

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

The Lavry doesn't recognize the signal.

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

If your asking about the cable I got it from sweetwater and the packaging says mogami gold reference analog multi pair snake cable db25- db25. On sweet waters site it says tascam pinout.

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

If it's an analog cable, then it may not be suitable for your connection as far as the pinout is concerned... Analog and digital Tascam pinouts are slightly different: http://tascam.com/content/downloads/pro … Pinout.pdf

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

On the sweetwater site it says that cable has a tascam AES pinout and supports digital recording

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

Perhaps you should talk to Mogami and get the exact pinout of this cable - then you will know whether it is fully compatible or not.

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

Thanks for your help. I am in contact with them now.i will follow up when I get that tracked down.

Re: Octamic XTC and digital routing problem

As a follow up it does look like I was sent the wrong cables which are being replaced. Sweetwater realized the problem and is now fixing it. Hopefully this will fix the issue. Thanks for helping diagnose the problem.
