Topic: TotalmixFX and Mackie control emulation - mute issue

Hello,

I'm trying to remote control totalmixFX (I own a ufx) from Albeton Live using the mackie control protocol. For the time being I'm mainly interested in being able to mute selected input channels. I have found a list of corresponding midi commands here :

(in my case they're all shifted one octave)

My issue is this : I would like to have a different command to mute and to unmute a track. But after extensive testing I've come to the conclusion that the totalmix mute button only answers to a command of the appropriate note with either a midi off signal of any velocity or a midi ON signal of velocity 0 by just alternating the MUTE state. But I need to know if I turn the mute on or off REGARDLESS of its previous state.

Does anyone have an idea of how this could be done ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

It is like this in the protocol. If you want to know the state you have to intialize them all first.

Re: TotalmixFX and Mackie control emulation - mute issue

Thank you MC for a quick reply. I was expecting something like that. But is there any way to initialize just the mutes (or a single mute) without initializing the whole setup. The workaround I've found for the moment was to use the F keys in the protocol to recall a snapshot with all tracks muted.  But that is not a totally satisfying solution for me.

Alternatively, does the OSC protocol function the same way ?

Cheers

The workaround is much simpler: whenever you start connecting to a Mackie control, or when changing the channel/bank, the current real Mute states are sent. So instead of using a fixed Snapshot simply move the bank fron Input to Playback and back (example) and you will receive the true Mute state of the channels currently selected.

AFAIR OSC will send the real state any time.
