Topic: ADI-8 QS (I64 MADI Card)

Is it possible in any way to select which input of the the MADI card to use, the optical or the coax? In my case the card is connected to two different computers one via the optical and the other via the coax input, which one is selected is determined by which computer is turned on first but I like to do an active selection via MIDI for instance.

Best Regards,
PLux

Re: ADI-8 QS (I64 MADI Card)

From the manual:
"Since late 2011 a newer version of the i64 MADI card is shipped, having two green Sync LEDs
beside the inputs. Here the above automatic input switching can be changed to different modes,
like giving optical or coaxial input priority. The leaflet included with the i64 MADI card explains
those  options  in  detail.  This  newer  version  also  enables  the  special  Digital  Patch  Mode,  see chapter 9.16."

I didn't find this online, is it possible to copy and paste the leaflet here to the forum? Would be interesting for sure...

Re: ADI-8 QS (I64 MADI Card)

To answer the question: it is not possible to change the MADI input via MIDI. The MIDI commands are still the ones listed in the latest manual (see website). No such command exists. Jumpers are used on the newer i64 card to set a specific input choice and auto-behavior.

Thanks for the quick answer!

Re: ADI-8 QS (I64 MADI Card)

What about an upgrade path for ADI 8 QS Madi users to the current i64 MADI card with Digital Patch Mode...? I am willing to invest, but not that much money for an almost 10-years-old device. So I think an upgrade path would be a reasonable solution for both customers as well as manufacturer - agreed...?

Kindest regards,
Ulrich

Sell the old MADI card as used item, that lowers the price of the new one.

Re: ADI-8 QS (I64 MADI Card)

Hi.
I have AES 32 pcie card and ADI 8 QS.Please tell me anyone, which of the two should be master?
Which of these has the best clock?
because I have tried both variants, and change the sound of each other.
And it is important to conect with BNC conector vs Adin clock drom AesEbu?
Thank you and excuse me for my bad english

Re: ADI-8 QS (I64 MADI Card)

If the ADI 8 QS is your main AD/DA unit I would recommend to set ADI 8 QS as master and AES card as slave.
