Hi astro..., ready-made answer for you.
Just go to the Fireface Mixer application/icon, right-click or ctrl-click on it, a flip menu will appear...choose " Show package content ". In the "Resources" folder you'll find a file named "Fireface Mixer.rsrc", just replace it with the new one and you're done.
...a brand new skin.
ciao D.
A little update of BasicBlue to 1.1 with changed scale line graphics to adress the "-40 or -60 db as minimum"-problem.
Edit: Working on a replacement with tweaked details. Will post in this thread as soon as I'm finished.
very nice one LarsErik! Could you put your exe file also in the zip?
thx!
Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it. :-)
But I'm not sure to what EXE you are refering? I've got a FireFace400 and I'm using WindowsXP so so all I have to do is to replace the BMP files in the \Application Data\RME TotalMix\ directory.
Sincerely
LarsErik

Thanks, I actually got it figured out by myself..... after mayby an hour of mouseclicking....
We?ve got now the Blue V1, Blue V2 and Black Skins as OS X versions in the downloads.
V2 and Black had errors in the output bitmaps. I?ve fixed it for the OS X version, but they are still exist in the Windows version. Manolo: You should fix it in your sources. Otherwise the failure will reproduce itself in every future update.
best regards
Knut
What kind of errors is it please ?

Damned ! fryingpan. Ok, I'm gonna fix that and I'll send you the fixed versions.

Thanks a lot nut for the mac users !!! Viva RME !

Ok, you can download the fixed versions here (I made a very little improvement) : http://photos13.free.fr/Totalmix
Tell me when you'll have it please.
Here's BasicBlue v1.3. I've tweaked the scales a bit more and made some minor changes and fixes.
Download here: http://www.rme-audio.de/en_downloads_tools.php
Hi,
now we got OS X versions for all six skins in the download section - and Manolos update for the PC Blue V2 and Black as well (thanks).
best regards
Knut
In this post, I raised a question about having different skins for the Hammerfall mixer and a Fireface mixer on the same machine. Is that possible?
Thanks,

Great news!
Thank you very much for your work, Admin!!!!!!!

This might be part of a later TM update. Good idea, IMHO.
Great work by all concerned :-)
Suggestion for the Downloads page:
For a Windows installation, the location you specify is for XP:
\Documents and Settings\$USER$\Local Settings\RME TotalMix
For Vista it is:
\Users\$USER$\AppData\Local\RME TotalMix
A little variation of the Black/Red : only the right panel has been changed (and some details for the buttons) but I think the whole skin looks better with this right panel.
Manolo what about a blue/black one? i'd love to see a try
Anyone else?
Cheers, Luigi.

It's planned :-). It will be the same but there will be blue instead of red.
Cant wait
Thanks a lot

One small detail that makes the case for separate bitmaps for the FF mixer and the HDSP mixer is that the 'Output' row of the HDSP mixer is scaled differently than the FF mixer. On the HDSP mixer, "0" is at the very top, whereas on the FF mixer "+6" is at the top. One set of BMPs can't take that into account.... :-)
Great work from everyone who is contributing skins!!
--Dean
Even worse - some HDSP have, some not.
Oh ! I didn't see that Black Red was already online. Knut, could you please replace the one online by the last I posted (http://photos13.free.fr/Totalmix) ? And the good screenshot is here : http://photos13.free.fr/Total_mix_black_red_final.jpg .
Thanks.
beautiful! this is definetely the best skin you've created, Manolo IMHO.
I appreciate the fact that you've not placed numbers to indicate dB output scale; it keeps Totalmix view neat and clean.
...waiting to download the Mac OS version.
Thanks everybody.

Ohh, you're right.
@LarsErik: Can you make such a version of BasicBlue with 0dB at the top on the output bitmaps? DONE
fantastic work!!! the modern vintage looks fabulous on mac osx
hi .. a want to change skin, but i can not find where are the bmp files stored .. i find this location Documents and Settings\$USER$\Local Settings\RME TotalMix, but it is empty folder .. there is just one file default1.fmx and it's all .. what to do?help
you have to create a "BMP" subfolder.
The scaling problem is easy to fix: the authors just need to add a second output bitmap version with a different scale. Add something to the name so that it is not loaded automatically but easily to find and to be renamed by the user.
A similar thing is what I do with some skins. I take some bitmaps from others. This allows you for example to change the background color of the Matrix, without the need to change anything else. For Manolo's skin I have two subfolders with a dark grey matrix and a light grey one, and can easily change by copying the files one dir up.
you have to create a "BMP" subfolder.
i use Resource Hacker, but i dont now what to do .. can you or anyone illustrate(explain) me how to do step by step?
And one more note: now that we have some kind of basic stock of skins on our website, we will no longer upload anything new, but try to select a little bit. That said, the latest 'green' one is really nice, very clear to view and work with, and a nice variation of the original RME one. But we just stopped the uploading to wait for some reactions in here. Maybe we should do some kind of poll for new skins?

Yes, that's a good id?a in my humble opinion.

Yes of course. Download my HDSP mixer bitmaps for BasicBlue here: http://web.comhem.se/keso/BasicBlue13_HDSP_bitmaps.zip
Could you please help me try them out? I don't have the HDSP mixer software myself.

Is it too much to ask for Mac version of the BasicBlue skin? Then all uploaded skins have both versions
Ola
Hi, I'm the author of the "Ultimate" skin. I also posted this on the news group: Totalmixspl
The bitmaps are available at This link
This skin is a bit over the top, but is for people (like me) with monitors calibrated to Bob Katz' K20 standard. The skin has SPL markings on the outputs and K20 dB scale for the spl meters, with relative dB values for attenuation or gain. This can be useful provided you're using Totalmix to attenuate your outputs before the monitors. Just a quick glance at totalmix tells you how loud you're listening
EDIT: It seems the bitmap names have changed to more "friendly names" instead of numbers since I last edited this one. Sorry about that one. If someone posts this as a download, be aware that the bitmaps won't work as usual unless renamed.

I belive it's someone at RME who made the MAC versions, but I'm not sure. I would love to make a MAC version if I only knew howto.
Edit: And now someone at RME just made a MAC version available. Thanks!

I've made HDSP Mixer bitmaps for BasicBlue v1.3. A big thank you to Dandruff for helping me trying them out.

Hi, I'm the author of the "Ultimate" skin.
Thanks for the skin and the newer bitmaps. But I think you would do anyone (including yourself) a favour by changing the names yourself (which then allows you to forget this resource hacking stuff). The author knows best what is what...
The reference archive includes a text file that explains the names of the bitmaps:

Lars,
some more things:
1. The Over-LEDs look different on playback- and outputchannels:
On the output-channels there's a 1 pixel wide space at the right of the right Over-LED.
FIXED (3.076)
2. Just one Over-LED (at the right of the "Ovr" message) per channel would look better IMO (as it is in the original Skin). DONE
3. With the HDSP output images, the 0dB mark on the fader-thumb doesn't match the 0dB mark on the background markings: http://www.outburst-audio.com/maik/outp … b-hdsp.png
On the input- and playbackchannels, the 0dB mark on the faders match the one on the background markings! FIXED

1. It's the same BMP file so there's not much I can do about this.
2. Yes I agree, I'm gonna remove the left red rectangle.
3. Yes, and it's actually wrong on the input channels as well.
Thanks for taking a closer look at BasicBlue. I will make adjustments to the skin as soon as I get some spare time.
Sincerely
LarsErik
