Topic: HDSP 9652 Adat2 port wont sync

Hi guys,

I have the following setup:

1x 9652 (Rev 1.6)
2x ADA8000
1x Motu 828 MK3 Hybrid

Connected like this:

1st ADA on Adat1 I/O
2nd ADA on Adat2 I/O
Motu on Adat3 I/O (on the expansion card)

I've already configured the Motu to work as a standalone slave converter and it's synced properly.
Also, the 1st ADA is synced ok.

The problem is (i think) with the Adat2 port. No matter what i connect on that one it doesn't lock the sync.
I've tried all the converters, switched cables, it just doesn't work.

As a side note, light is emitted from the Adat2 ports, so i guess the ports are not broken?

Is there something i missed? Like a checkbox or maybe a jumper?

I'ts driving me nuts!

No Jumper AFAIK, I have the same card, different converters (ADI8, EMU1212m and Tascam FW1804) All work.
So if you disconnect the ADA8000 and connect only the Motu, with both in and out connected, it doesn't work?
One thing to try is gently blow on the cards adat 2 in and out to remove dust.
Otherwise make the RME master and all devices slave.
BTW you don't mention if indeed you are using 6 adat cables and what device is master and how you set up the slaves.

Hello,

what exactly does "lock the sync" refer to? Is this about ADAT input or output?

Ah I just remembered, a simple test, to test the adat ports, is to set rme to master and then connect all adat inputs to the outputs (loopback). If all sync ok then the adat ports are 100% ok and it is something different.

Hi guys,
first of all thanks for all the answers.

The RME is already set as master, all the others are slaves connected with 6 optical cables.
When i mean "lock the sync" i'm referring to the Settings window, where only 2 of the devices appear as locked.

I will try to blow the ports and do a loopback test and see what happens.
