Topic: Outputs in any DAW are SW rather than hardware outs?

Hey guys,

I wonder why Ableton gives me 6 out pairs on my BFP and each seems to just route into the TM's software playback channels rather than direct HW outs. So there is another layer between that and I have to arrange routings in TM to achieve what once was more direct on my MOTU. There, any out of the interface showing up in a DAW was a hareware out.

Am I getting RME's concept right or is there something I've missed?

Thanks for quick reply
Cheers
Danny

So I have to create different submixes in TM for each HW out with another SW PB fader up (out 1 with SW fader 1 up and so on) when I want to enable any software to quickly route to different HW outs?

Or you go to Options - Reset Mix and just set that factory preset.

Interestingly, why does Apple's Audio/MIDI Setup then show me the control faders for the hardware outs (as in TM)? This is rather irritating because of that inconsistency between Apple and all other software manufacturers hmm
