Topic: Is the ADI-2 Pro's Power Supply Internal or External?

Hello,

Given that the ADI-2 Pro uses a switch-mode power supply (SMPS), and that SMPS are usually impossible to repair, does the ADI-2 Pro use an external power supply (that can be easily replaced) or only an internal power supply?

In other words, if the SMPS on the ADI-2 Pro fails, will I need to ship the ADI-2 Pro back to RME (for a repair) or can I just purchase a new external power supply (ex. RME NT-RME-2)?

Thanks,
Nelson

Hello Ramses,

Thank you for the link, but I already noticed that.

The ADI-2 Pro is listed as having the following:

"General

• Included power supply: Internal switching PSU, 100 - 240 V AC, 2 A, 24 Watts
• Standby power consumption: 50 mW
• Idle power consumption: 10 Watts, Max. power consumption: 22 Watts
• Idle current at 12 V: 850 mA (10 Watts)
• Dimensions (WxHxD): 215 x 44 x 130 mm (8.5" x 1.73" x 5.1")"

By "Internal Switching PSU" does RME mean that the power supply is internal to the ADI-2 Pro?

If so my next question is, if the ADI-2 Pro's internal power supply ends up failing, can I purchase something like the  RME NT-RME-2 (an external power supply) to replace the faulty internal power supply?

Thanks and apologies for the confusing post,
Nelson

Re: Is the ADI-2 Pro's Power Supply Internal or External?

I have one ADI-2 Pro and can confirm its external.

What I meant .. If it would be internal it would not be listed as separate part with an article number of its own,
does this make sense ? wink

That 'internal' was a copy & paste error in the manual, which then crawled over to the website. I fixed it.
