Topic: Multiple HDSP MADI - sync status on recording

__Setup:
Two HDSP MADI cards (PCI) running on one PC system
Hardware Revision (both cards): 207
Driver: 05/12/2013 Version 3.36

__Problem Description:
When applying synchronous MADI Streams to both cards, HDSP dialogue will show input status "Sync" on both cards,
>BUT<
when opening a recording application and accessing both cards for recording (tested with DigiCheck Global Record, MAGIX Sequoia v11) sync status of 2nd card will return to "Lock" or will alternate quickly between "Sync" and "Lock".
(BTW: Playback of a recorded file in DigiCheck Global Record will return both cards to "Sync" status)

_Behavior Variance:
Inconsistent, varies day by day in absolutely identical setups, sometimes both cards will actually stay in "Sync" when recording; chances 50:50

Any help highly appreciated.

Thank you,
PR

Re: Multiple HDSP MADI - sync status on recording

When applying synchronous MADI Streams to both cards
Where do those streams come from and how are they synced?
What is the clock master and how is it distributed?
Madi cards clocks settings?

Re: Multiple HDSP MADI - sync status on recording

I am led to believe that the source of the MADI Input streams should not matter, since HDSP is showing "SYNC" until I open a recording application, but nevertheless:

In the current setup MADI streams are send from a MADIface XT output, but I've experienced the same behavior hooking them on outputs from a Direct Out M1K2-Router.

Re: Multiple HDSP MADI - sync status on recording

Addition: both MADI cards have "MADI Input" selected as sync source...

Re: Multiple HDSP MADI - sync status on recording

The more interesting information - is the audio recorded with the second card click-free? In that case it would be a simple display bug, which might be fixed in the current driver already.

Re: Multiple HDSP MADI - sync status on recording

Thank you Matthias...

Regrettably, it is not recorded click-free / inverted checksum with original file not "zero".

Re: Multiple HDSP MADI - sync status on recording

There are two things:

- check this is not a PCI overload problem by using a different slot for at least one card

- swap the cards to see if one is broken

Otherwise there is no support anymore for driver 3.36. We had at least two later drivers that improved external sync...
