Topic: latency swap problem madiface xt + cubase 8.5

hello,

we use cubase 8.5.20 with madiface xt (driver version 0.95.90 firmare 171).
plugged on  allegro Pro USB 3.0 PCIe card SONNET.(fresco chipset)
when switching latency parameter while in cubase use we totaly loose the sound.
we have to close cubase and re-open for the changes to take effects.
this is very strange.
we tried all différent parameters change in the driver with no effect.
have you a solution for this?
best regards

It should be enough to reset the ASIO driver from within Cubase.

Re: latency swap problem madiface xt + cubase 8.5

Hello M.C,
thank you for your quick answer.
Sorry but the "Réinitialize" opt doesn't work either.
To be more precise:
When in cubase:
1) If we swap the latency value (higher or lower)
No effect in the cubase visual value for latency.
No effect on the real latency heard
Click on the "Reinitialize" opt from cubase
Then no more sound

2) If we come back to the initial value (the one was setted at the cubase start) for latency
Click on the "Reinitialize" opt from cubase
Then sound come back.

No artifact sound or glitches can be heard at the swap or reinit moments.

3) If we want the changes to take effect we have to close Cubase and resart..
(Not good when you're on session with customers..)

We are a looong time RME products users ( 1hdsp9652, 2 Multiface1, 1 FW800 and now we just switched to the Madiface)
It's the first time we are facing so strange problem with your products.
The madiface is coupled with SSL Madi on 56 Chanels.
Monitoring done via Madiface Analog Output to a SPL.
To restrict the number of channel to 64  we have Mirroring opt so we can see directly the Analogue Input/Output in the cubase connexion panel. So we don't have to use the loopback artifact.

Last information the machine is Win 8.1 Pro 64bits
Thank you

Re: latency swap problem madiface xt + cubase 8.5

When you change the latency value have a look at the current CPU load. The issue that you describe is not related to MADIface or driver. It usually happens when the system is overloaded during the reconfiguration.

Did you make sure that the Settingsdialog has 0 (or just 1 or 2) WDM devices active? If that is set to a higher number it will cause problems too.

Re: latency swap problem madiface xt + cubase 8.5

Hello.
The wdm is set to 1 and routed to analog input.
I'll check tomorrow for the cpu load but until last week the config on same machine was 2 multiface1 and ssl via adat..

Re: latency swap problem madiface xt + cubase 8.5

Hello MC,
so the problem is solved !
Finaly i had to came back to wdm set to 0 output
It worked again.
If i re-program the WDM to 1 output (still my analog output) it's still working well...???
Very strange but working.
if you have any explanation about this i'll like to hear from you.
Unfortunatly i don't like to don't know why things append. smile

Anyway thank you so much for you're prompt responses to this thread.
As always RME doesn't do only the best sound machines but the support is great too.
best regards

Re: latency swap problem madiface xt + cubase 8.5

I can not explain why it still works, but if you never use the Multifaces on this machine again, then you should clean it to remove ill effects caused by Microsoft's sloppy programming. Goes like this:

Start Device Manager.  Menu View; Show inactive (or deactivated) devices

Open the section Audio Video and Game Controller. Delete everything in there that is greyed out. Depending on how many devices had ever been connected this list can be quite long.

Note: the list of greyed out items under Audio inputs and outputs is even longer, but these do not need to be removed.

After this process changing the sample rate and buffer size should be super-quick again.
