Hi.

W7 Ult 64 SP1 HDSPe AIO PCIe.

Was hoping someone could set me straight on the TMFX. Here is a screenshot:

First, I am going SPDIF out of the RME > my Avocet. Simple.

Next, I am going out of the RME > some external gear, back in to the RME, all XLR.

So, the first thing is this.... it appears as tho SW Playback is the internal workings of the card, which then feeds the HW Outputs, which represent  the actual balanced XLR jacks. Is this correct? That would explain why adjusting the SW Playback fader effects the level feeding the outboard gear and the HW Output ch as well.

Now to the HW Inputs - in this case, Analog 1/2. Is that not what is coming back into the RME at the XLR jacks? Why do I have level if the fader is all the way down? And where exactly is the clipping coming from?

Thanks in advance.

Re: T-Mfx Q

The clipping is at the input stage. So lower the output of the device or set the reference level of the input correct (-10 or+4db or high, -10 has the highest gain and has most chance of clipping).
The input fader controls the level of the input to the hardware output. That's all. The level meter shows the actual input before the fader. The input fader has no effect on the record level.
Once you get it it is simple.
