Topic: Do I need WORDCLOCK?

Hi,

I am using three ADI DS8, two older and one mklll. Question: Do I need to daisychain them with wodclock cabels or is that old stuff??

I mean of  course  that I want them to be in sync...

Someone?

Best regards Micke Soderlund.

Re: Do I need WORDCLOCK?

Hi,

I have a RAY DAT 9652 card in a PC machine.two or three years old. I bought the two first ADI-8 round 2000 it says "Nuendo" instead of "RME" Nuendo is my DAWprogram, Steinberg..
Well in those days I was told that I had to use word clock to get the converters in sync and I allways has.. but it is maybe not necessary now in 2017???

Re: Do I need WORDCLOCK?

If all ADIs are connected to the RayDAT then set the card to Internal clock and all converters to follow their ADAT input. No word clock needed.

Re: Do I need WORDCLOCK?

Ok! Eeehh.. which box shall I tick?? It says "spdif" with three choices , ADAT4, COAXIAL,INTERNAL.. is it that "internal" ?
Thank's for your help!
Micke.

Re: Do I need WORDCLOCK?

Yes! And the all connected devices should read sync (not lock!) in the sync check box.
Oh and all devices need both adat in and out cables.

Re: Do I need WORDCLOCK?

..strange, I removed the wordclock cable then the slave ADI 8 was no longer locked or in sync..

Re: Do I need WORDCLOCK?

Sorry, the yes was yes internal. The slave adi should have an in and out adat connection and the adi should be set to adat sync.
