Topic: Digiface 64 bit windows 7

I have had my Digiface working flawlessly for about 9+ years on Windows ME and Windows XP. I just made the switch to Windows 7 pro on a 64 bit system and was going to pick up another Digiface for that computer and keep the XP as a back up. My Digiface has been so solid I haven't been to the website in years and see the Digiface is no longer made and now a vintage piece of gear!

I looked around the forum for a definitive answer but my question is: Will a Digiface run on windows 7 pro 64 bit? Do I need the new card? The Digiface is rock solid and would like to keep using one.

Here are some specs on the computer I am setting up:
Dell Precision T3500
Xeon W3530 qc
12 GB ram

Thank you for any advice.

Best,

Paul

Re: Digiface 64 bit windows 7

Yes, the Digiface works on 64 bit Windows, it uses the HDSP series driver. You probably don't need a new host card, but it depends whether your new PC has a fully functional PCI slot.

Thank you Jeff.
Yes I believe I have 2 PCI slots available.
Could you please point me to the correct driver?

Best,

Paul

As of today, it's this one: https://archiv.rme-audio.de/download/dr … in_406.zip

All HDSP(e) series drivers for Mac and Windows are here: http://www.rme-audio.de/en/downloads/driver/hdspe.php

Yes its a good card. But you need to keep in mind that it only offers digital inputs and outputs.
No Analog Output in the front for either Line or Headphone out like with the Digiface.

So if you want to connect your Monitors directly to this card you would require Monitors with digital interface (AES)
and then you most likely require an AES splitter like this here:
https://www.thomann.de/de/mutec_mc_11_2 … B_349673_0
Or if you have the bigger Neumanns (KH310D), they offer an AES splitting function directly via additional BNC Plugs.

The usual way is to connect i.e. a Preamp to the RayDAT  which also offers Analog Line Outs
i.e. via ADAT 1 IN and ADAT 1 OUT on the card.

Or you choose now the really high Quality DAC ADI-2 Pro which has reference class converters.
You can connect it to the RayDAT either via ADAT or AES.

Finally spent some time yesterday moving my PCI card over. Works perfect! Rock solid!

You must have a real PCI slot available, mine are PCI 2.3

All the drivers are on the RME website.

DIGI96XX is a totally different card, it's too old and does not work on 64 bit OS. Sorry Jackie, no chance for support.

Re: Digiface 64 bit windows 7

thank you Jeff. My hdsp9652 works fine on T5500 running windows xp x64 and 7. I use pci-x slot to run the card. I didn't bother to stick in the old digi cards yet, but they fitted the same slots. I am very happy and everything works tiptop. I have another card HDSP9632 stuck in another T5500 that needs expansion card for 4 mono mixes. Ill play around a bit and learn all of the angles before in move these to a rackmounted pc case.
many thanks J
