Topic: Options for 8 mono I/O via AES and 8 mono I/O via MADI

Hi.

I'm looking for a thunderbolt solution that would give me 8 mono AES I/O and a MADI I/O. What are my options?

Could I for example run an HDSPe AES 32 with the MADI FX OPTO-X Expansion Card?

And another question someone might be able to answer - does the AES 32 require one slot or two. I know the card is two parts, but do they both require a slot?

Mono AES ? AES is always stereo .. you can usually change settings on the connected device whether you want L, R or L+R.

If you need to connected monitors then you need either
- 2 AES OUT interface for one L and one R or
- 1 AES interface and an AES splitter (or the monitor has a built-in AES splitter via BNC plugs like i.e. one of Neumanns)

UFX+ and then either 1 or 2 ADI 642 depending on how you define "8 mono"

Thanks for your suggestions and advice.

I was trying to be specific about the number of channels needed. If I had said '8 channels of AES' then it could be interpreted as 8 AES inputs. I need 4 AES inputs to provide 8 channels of audio.

So the AES 32 definitely wont fit in the Sonnet Echo Express SE 1?

If anyone knows the answer to this it would help greatly. This list seems to suggest AES 32 is compatible with SE1

Thanks and BTW .. I was not sure how he "counts" the channels, how many AES Plugs / connections he requires.
