Topic: Do I need a DI box with UCX and Axe-FX?

Hi I asked this question within one of my previous posts but got no reply so I thought of starting a new thread:

Do you guys recommend using an active Radial J48 or Passive JDI if I use UCX, Axe-FX and guitars with active pickups?

The band Periphery use J48 with their Focustite and Axe-FX but other people told me there is no need for that. On the other hand somebody on GearSlutz claims he gets more clear sound when using JDI with his RME UC interface.

Thanks

I actually don't but somebody at GearSlutz told me this:

AXE FX has XLR line outs and instrument HiZ out.

IF using the line out>XLR to TRS>line in>interface.
if using the instrument out>DI>XLR to interface Mic in.

Re: Do I need a DI box with UCX and Axe-FX?

Preferred is to use a balanced cable ...
-> So AXE FX -> XLR to TRS Plug (stereo) -> UFX Analog 1..8 IN

Otherwise use a normal TS cable (unbalanced)
-> Then AXE FX -> TS Cable (Guitar Cable Mono) -> UFX Mic 9..12 and set input in TM FX to Instr.
