Topic: fireface psu caps

english hiya

my unit died fireface 800 - about a month ago
there was a blown out#4 ( ... ) opamp and caps

fixed

now i see the 2200μF on the psu are not looking so great...

i will get those... later-soon-ish

but the question is - i am looking at putting in more opamps
and
i am really looking for places where it would be a super bad idea
( as opposed to just not really necessary ) to replace opamps

Shirley;

The outs could use better stuff and . the ins too
but
im really just looking for red flags

Reviveaudio.com

On the input stages on these we use High Performance Burr Brown opamps for a warm punchy front end with excellent response and musicality.
On the output stages and headphone amps we use Linear Technologies opamps which offer a very flat response.

A Power supply modification was also performed for maximum bandwidth and to accommodate the additional Current draw from the new Performance opamps.
This includes a whole new power supply

Re: fireface psu caps

Trying to improve the FF800's sound by mods doesn't make any sense. You just waste time and money. If you want something better get a completely differently designed unit, like the Fireface 802. Or one more step up the UFX, and another step up the UFX II. There is no way to get any spec of the UFX II by simply changing OP amps, capacitors or whatever in a FF800.
