Topic: Width and MS processing

When recording using a Mid Side microphone array, how should the width "knob" be set on the hardware input channel if you wanted to record equal volume for mid and side microphones?  Does the width knob on the hardware input channel affect what is sent to the software or only what is sent to the hardware outputs?  I am using the BF Pro.

The MS processing switch and Width knob only affect monitoring, the recording will still be discrete mid and side, and further processing can be done in the DAW software.
